Joe came home for lunch and announced that it would be 80 degrees the next couple days so we're going camping. We were gone within 2 hours.
Eric playing in dirt while we packed.
We decided to drive about 1 1/2 hours south to Portola Redwoods State Park. We had our choice of camping spots so we drove around and found this gem. It was huge. The car was parked right by us, and our tent was in the middle of a circle of huge trees with openings in them! It was like a tree playground!
Wendy doing her squat up and down dance.
Jumping out of trees.
We went on a walk and we found our way down to this stream in a canyon with little waterfalls. It was beautiful. I didn't bring my camera on the walk...
Joe and Eric enjoyed throwing and skipping rocks and getting muddy.
In the morning, it was cold again so the kids kept asking to get in the car and watch the "fishy movie" (Finding Nemo). After breakfast we obliged. It worked really well. They were strapped in the car, cozy, and happily watching a movie while we packed everything up.
Such a fun, spontaneous trip!
